Never using them again the mechanic didn't have all the tools he needed so het sat around for almost an hour until some other guy brought him what he needed and they tell me i have to pay an xtra hour for the other guy to bring the tool long story short $600 for 1 chamber why doesnt price gauging apply to trucks broken down

This place is a money pit. They charged me $112.00 for a $20.00 job. They were charging me, $136.00 because they were charging me $20.00 for the tire plugs they were using, even though they cost less than $5.00 each. Which they had "already" charged me for.
My 1985 RV lost all the coolant on the way to Tippecanoe State Park in Indiana on a Friday afternoon. We were only a few miles outside Valparaiso when this happened. I called A-1 and they answered, despite being after hours and living up to their "24/7" namesake; they advised me that the RV would make it to their shop and to drop it off to save money. I did, and the next afternoon my wife and I went there and met Ellen and her mechanic. They already had the RV pulled into a bay. They diagnosed the issue as a hose crack right below where the hose clamps. It happens with a 32 year old hose. Showed me the issue so I knew they weren't ripping me off. Advised me that since I had acquired a rental car (while the RV was being fixed), I could save money by picking up up my own coolant since I had to go to the hardware store for an interior plumbing part (my own repair project) anyway. They repaired it the hose and my old beater RV made it through the camping trip as well as all the way back to Chicago without an issue.
Any other place would have insisted on a $500 (or more) heavy wrecker tow. And another $500 for the pressure checks, coolant, and repair. That's probably a low estimate.
I can just tell you that the people form A1 are good and know there business when it comes to trucks and trailer. So I can recommend when ever you need road assistance near IN call A1.
While they worked, we enjoyed the company of their foster new mommy cat.
Anyone who calls another service is making a big mistake. I’m not sure what these negative reviews are all about, but I gathered that there were other partners in the business before, who have since separated. I think now that the business is run just by one person, any past business practices that were less than savory have been done away with. Living in Chicago my whole life, I am familiar with scam jobs and crooks. I can tell you that this place is neither. While the odds of my breaking down on that road are hopefully slim, if I did I would not hesitate to call A-1 24 Hour Mobile Repair Service. I was back on the road by Saturday afternoon.
This place was awesome! Ellen got everything rolling for me and Brett (who owns the truck and trailer) when I was broke down on a Sunday at that! The toyhauler was brand new (with warranty) and she dealt with the dealer and manufacturer when they tried to say it was either Bretts fault or my fault that the brakes ceased up. She got them to pay for repairs and services. If you ever need a repair to your trailer I suggest calling up Ellen!! Awesome Lady. Thank you for taking care of us.
